Description

like it says: Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About OpenCanvas

because i always see tutorials about making the art or doing effects on the art, but rarely about how to use the program itself.

please forgive the large size, but i wanted this to be thorough, detailed, and step-by-step. this is meant to be a tutorial for those who are just beginning to use openCanvas (or who have been using it but would like to learn more), so be aware that it is aimed at people who have no openCanvas knowledge.

PART ONE of the Layer Blending tutorials -- Multiply through Pin Light.

different layer blending calculations create very different interactions between your layers. this first batch is the set you'll be most likely to use for "lighting" effects (light and shadow layers). most digital artists i know use Addition for their light layers and Subtraction(Nega) for their shadow layers, but i tend to use Subtraction (a habit from Photoshop, which doesn't have Subtraction(Nega)). each blending calculation has quirks, and i've tried to note the best/worst of those here -- some blends react differently to different hues, some to different values, etc. i hope "lighting" effects will become a little more clear with the Final Tutorial.

feel free to show this to your friends, or anybody curious about openCanvas! ^_^
