Artist's Comments

like it says: Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About OpenCanvas

because i always see tutorials about making the art or doing effects on the art, but rarely about how to use the program itself.

please forgive the large size, but i wanted this to be thorough, detailed, and step-by-step. this is meant to be a tutorial for those who are just beginning to use openCanvas (or who have been using it but would like to learn more), so be aware that it is aimed at people who have no openCanvas knowledge.

PART FOUR of the Pen Window tutorials! (we're halfway there!) ^_^

watercolor is another of those tools that is best demonstrated in an actual picture, and i am by NO MEANS an expert with the watercolor tool. my experience/expertise is with the airbrush, since i came to openCanvas after a few years of Photoshop. my advice to you is to seek out watercolor tutorials for opencanvas; try the portalgraphics community page, perhaps. still, i do intend to make a tutorial picture to utilize as many of openCanvas' features as possible by the end of this stuff, and i'll upload the event file as a tutorial.

feel free to show this to your friends, or anybody curious about openCanvas! ^_^

It's nice to have a guide to go by rather than just seeing what they do by trial and error ^__^;. Just wondering, but are you planning on doing a gradient tutorial? I know how to get them to work, but dont know how to do much with them T_T;;.

gradients as in, using the watercolor tool? or gradients with the pencil tool? or gradients with the gradient tool? ^_^;;

i have one for the pencil/gauss blur technique already. it's somewhere in my gallery, and i think i called it tutorial - better gradients

but i do plan on showing how to do watercolor gradients very soon.

wow, thanks for posting this... I've been using oC for a while now, and only recently I've started to experiment with the watercolor tool. Thanks to you, my experimentation will probably be more successful now!
